Rivertree Singers & Friends is pleased to perform Robert Shaw’s English edition of Brahms’ German Requiem. This 1998 edition was the final phase of Shaw’s lifelong fascination with the Requiem. Perhaps, in the spirit of Brahms himself, Shaw’s passion to communicate in the vernacular now gives our chorus and audience this opportunity to experience the powerful effect of Brahms’ music magnifying timeless texts selected from Scripture.
Warren Cook and Rivertree Singers invite singers to prepare and perform this monumental masterpiece with the Festival Orchestra and more than 150 singers from around the country. We will all meet in Greenville for an exhilarating weekend, June 20-22, 2019.
We are delighted to have the encouragement and cooperation of the Shaw Estate as we celebrate great choral music and the work of Robert Shaw.
